Data Processing

When you scan an ingredient label, the image or text is sent to our secure API proxy for AI-powered analysis. This processing happens in real-time:

Images and text are not stored on our servers
No copies of your scans are retained after analysis
Our API proxy is stateless — it forwards your request for analysis and returns the result

Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device only:

Scan history — your past ingredient analyses and results
Filter preferences — your selected filters (Vegan, Cruelty-Free, Allergens, etc.)
Scan credit balance — the number of remaining scans you have purchased
Device identifier — a randomly generated UUID used solely for API rate limiting

iCloud Sync

Your scan credit balance is synced across your devices via Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store. This ensures your purchased credits are preserved if you reinstall the app or switch devices. No other data is synced to iCloud.

Third-Party Services

InciGuard uses the following third-party services for ingredient analysis:

Google Gemini API — for AI-powered ingredient analysis (via our secure proxy)
Cloudflare Workers — as a secure proxy layer that holds the API key server-side

Neither service receives any personally identifiable information. Only ingredient text/images and the anonymous device identifier are transmitted.

No Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, share, rent, or transfer any user data to third parties for any purpose. We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

No Account Required

InciGuard does not require registration, login, or any personal information to use. There are no user accounts.

Children's Privacy

InciGuard does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. As the app collects no personal information, it is safe for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date.
